Extreme weather continues to affect Spain.
On the morning of Thursday 23 September, heavy rains fell in the province of Huelva, causing severe flooding.
The smaller towns of Ayamonte, Isla Cristina, La Redondela, Lepe and Cartaya were most affected.
The amount of precipitation in them reached 60 liters per square meter.
Streets turned into rivers, houses, buildings and shops were flooded.
Hundreds of cars were trapped in water.
The rescue services recorded more than 800 calls from citizens.
Local authorities urged citizens to take precautions, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow the recommendations of emergency plans.
Forecasters note that the number of natural disasters in Spain is increasing.
Rising temperatures have increased the likelihood of extreme weather events around the world, and their impact on Spain may intensify in the coming years.
