Beta Hatch, a small business funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), is industrializing the production of insects as an alternative protein to feed animals.
Beta Hatch is developing technology to mass-produce mealworms and use their waste as fertilizer. One-third of the crops grown worldwide are used to feed animals, according to Beta Hatch.
Beta Hatch is supported by America’s Seed Fund powered by the NSF, a $200 million per year program that awards research and development grants to small businesses and startups, transforming scientific discovery into products and services with commercial and societal impact.
